Before your Morpheus8 Skin Remodeling treatment, avoid sun exposure and sunless/self-tanning for two weeks prior to your treatment. Discontinue retin-A, tretinoin, or retinols one week prior to your treatment.

On the day of your treatment with Morpheus8 Tampa patients should arrive without makeup. At Elixir Aesthetics, we strive to make all treatments as comfortable as possible. Arrive at your appointment 30-45 minutes early for topical anesthetic ointment. Our providers use multiple pain minimization techniques, including Nitrous oxide (Pro-NoxTM) or “laughing gas,” if needed. The procedure is moderately uncomfortable but tolerable for most clients.

Morpheus8 Recovery, Results, and Aftercare

Your provider will discuss the particulars of your recovery, aftercare, and results with you at your consultation. Following your Morpheus8 treatment, your skin will temporarily be red and swollen for a few hours. Once the initial redness and swelling subside, you may experience slight redness, swelling, rough or bumpy skin, a visible grid pattern, and itching for 3-7 days. Although it is typically not very noticeable after one week, it may take several weeks for the slight grid pattern to be completely resolved.

After your treatment, a recovery serum will be applied to your skin, and directions about your specific skin care regimen discussed. Do not apply makeup or sunscreen on the day of your Morpheus8 treatment. You may resume a gentle cleanser and light moisturizer the night of your treatment. The following day, non-irritating skincare, sunscreen, and makeup may resume. Avoid irritating topical skin products like retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and any form of chemical or manual exfoliation for one week.

Maintaining your Morpheus8 results

Your specific needs, results, and maintenance plan will be discussed during your Morpheus8 Skin Remodeling consultation. Typically, optimal results are achieved with a series of three treatments, one month apart. Because our bodies naturally decline in collagen production as we age, one maintenance treatment will typically be necessary every 6-12 months to maintain the desired collagen stimulation.

Without sufficient topical numbing time and without Pro-NoxTM “laughing gas,” the procedure feels like a repetitive hot pin-prick. With using both modalities, most clients report the treatment to be tolerable. Afterward, you may experience a mild warmth sensation similar to a sunburn for a few hours, and your skin may be sensitive to the touch for a few days.

What are the risks?

In the hands of an experienced provider, Morpheus8 is relatively low risk. Outside of the expected healing process, more severe but very rare side effects may include skin pigmentation changes, prolonged redness or swelling, infection, and scarring.
